New Teacher Survival Guide

Project Description

This was one of my first class and I had worked with two classmates to create a new survival guide for teachers. We all had seen several new teachers leave the education field due to various reasons. We wanted to address this problem as well as to provide some possible solutions to the school districts in preventing teacher wanting to leave the profession. This website identifies the current problem, the reason why the problem exists and some possible solutions.

Lessons Learned

This was one of the first classes I had taken in my graduate program.  I was not sure what to expect in the classes.  Even when we needed to create a group project, I was not sure what to expect.  Since this was my first graduate class, I was not familiar with what technology I needed to know to complete the assignments.  However, I quickly realized that using the technology was not an issue. We were able to communicate and complete the assignment without any problems. I would consider this experience to be an eye-opener on how distance learning is possible and students can successfully complete and participate in their courses.

In project 3, two other ladies and I had come together to created a New Teacher Survival Guide.  We each had our strengths that contribute to the project.  I believe that this assignment was an excellent idea and hope that when I begin my teaching career, the school will have similar plan. However, if there is not a plan, would purpose that we would refine the current one and use to retain new teachers. I believe that this website is a great start to help new teachers cope with the stress and make their jobs duties easier

Modifications Made

The only modifications made for this project was to change the PowerPoint presentation in PDF format to make it easier for those who may not have PowerPoint in their computer systems. This modification will allow them to see the presentation without any problems. I feel that this is the only change needed for this project.
