Instruction Technology in Teaching

Project Description

There were three projects created in this class and as a requirement I had created a homepage to link all three projects together. Those three projects involved the integration of Educational Technology into teaching; they include a technology integration lesson plan, a narrated step-by-step tutorial and a Web Quest.

Lessons Learned

This course gave a unique perspective on the software used.  I had learned new software that I had not used before, such as Camtasia Studio 4.  Since I am not a teacher, I found this project a little difficult.  At first, I did not know how to begin the projects but I slowing began and completed the projects.    

The first project was Technology Integration Lesson Plan. The topic that I had chosen was Community Helpers for the grade level of Pre-kinder.  I had never created a lesson plan before so that this project gave an example of how lessons plans are created.  In this project I had learned where to find the ISTE National Educational Standards.   I did not know where to find the Educational Standards or how they were used for create a lesson plan.   I had also learned that in creating a lesson plan, it is critical that all of the material and activities be ready.  In creating this project, I had to create an outline on how the lesson will be taught.  I feel that this is good practice for me, since I am new to creating lesson plans. 

The second project for this class was to create a Narrated step by step tutorial.  I had chosen to create a step-by-step tutorial on how to create a basic PowerPoint Presentation.  I had created three examples each using different type of software.  The first example was created using Microsoft PowerPoint.  The second example was created by using Photo Story 3.  I had used this tool before and found that it was a good way to create a tutorial.  The third example was created by using Camtasia Studio 4.  I learned how to use Camtasia Studio 4. I had not heard of this tool before and at first I was not sure how to use it but I learned how easy it was to create a tutorial.

The third project for this class was to develop a Web Quest.  I had created a Web Quest on the three branches of the government.  The target audience for the Web Quest was forth graders in Social Studies. This project challenges the students in using their high level thinking skills in creating their assignments.  In creating the Web Quest, I learned what information a web quest should contain and that the section of the Teacher and student should differ.

Modifications Made

The modifications made on this project are minor because I feel that this webpage is not cluttered, has a good overall design and is user friendly. The change that was made includes centering the tables on each page. I feel that with these changes my projects will be more appealing to the viewers and no more changes would need to be done.
