EDTC 6329; J. Butler; Summer I 2008
Dawn Quinn
| Overarching Goal | Students will be Introduced to grid technology. The lesson plan composed of two instructional units provides an overview of grid technology through lecture content, online readings and videos.
|
| Instructional Objective | Students will demonstrate a basic understanding of grid technology.
|
| Needs Assessment | There has been a great deal of hype about grid technology over the past year, but few examples of people actually using grids. The latest Science 12th grade benchmark data (January 2008) shows that 53% of the students mastered 75% of the standards assessed. |
| Environmental Analysis | The instructional units will be conducted through an online environment. Students in 12th grade regular education classrooms will rotate through two (2) computer labs to complete this instruction. Students will be scheduled to a 20 minute rotation. Two groups of six students will rotate each day for two consecutive days. The classroom will require a presentation station with computer and Smartboard, network printer, Internet connections, and access to Blackboard.
|
| Workplace Analysis | Limited computers are available in the classroom to rotate students in one single day. Providing a two day window will accommodate all students through the rotation process. |
| Learner Analysis | Students are from an inner city high school and primarily Hispanic. All students are classified as Title I and economically disadvantaged, 92% are in regular education, 8% are special needs students, 8% are Limited English Proficient, and 56% are classified as At-Risk of Dropping Out. Fifty-seven percent are girls and 43% are boys. |
